Security & privacy

Security is Ledger Live’s foundation. The app works in tandem with Ledger hardware (Nano S, Nano X and others) so your seed phrase and private keys remain offline and protected. All transaction signing happens on your device; the desktop/mobile app only acts as a secure interface. Ledger Live also takes privacy seriously by minimizing telemetry and giving users transparency and controls over data sharing.

How signing works

When sending funds or granting permissions, Ledger Live prepares the transaction and the Ledger device displays the details for you to verify and approve. The private key stays on the device — the app never has access to it.

Mobile vs Desktop: which one to use?

Ledger Live is available for iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, and Linux. The mobile app gives you portability and quick access on the go, while the desktop app is ideal for detailed portfolio analysis, bulk operations, or advanced features like certain third-party integrations. Both platforms share the same secure design and sync where possible.
